The Income Tax Department has sent notices to some taxpayers who have filed taxes for the financial year 2021-22. If you have also received any notice for investigation from the Income Tax Department, then answer it without worry.
Actually the Income Tax Department has made a post on its Twitter handle. In which the department has appealed and said that the taxpayer, who has received the notice, must reply to it by 31 March 2022.
The Income Tax Department said this in a tweet – The Income Tax Department tweeted on Wednesday asking the taxpayer receiving the notice to respond to the information sought by March 31, the taxpayer receiving the notice.
Also, it has been clarified in the tweet of Income Tax Department that, in case of non-response to the notice, the dispute will be settled on the basis of the available information.
Big action can be taken if you do not answer – Under section 144 of the Income Tax Act, the tax officer can assess the total income or loss and on the basis of this give his decision, fix the tax liability of the taxpayer. In such a situation, you may have to pay more than the prescribed tax.
