China's evil move on Arunachal border, BJP said in the assembly- don't trust the neighbor

Itanagar. India shares a long border with China. Both countries share the border from Arunachal to Himachal and Uttarakhand. From time to time, China takes provocative actions on the thousands of kilometers long border, which increases the tension significantly. Once again a similar case has come to the fore. Actually, China is building a huge dam on the Brahmaputra river bordering Arunachal Pradesh. The proposed capacity of this dam is to generate 60 thousand megawatts of electricity. The BJP MLA has raised this issue in the assembly. He said that China’s move will create a flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh. Along with this, the BJP MLA also said that we cannot trust the neighboring country at all. The BJP MLA has also urged the central government to intervene.

In fact, BJP MLA from Arunachal Pradesh Ninong Ering on Friday expressed concern over the huge dam being built by China near the state border, saying that there is a danger of flood-like situation arising due to this. He has appealed to the Center to raise this issue with China. China is building a huge dam of 60 thousand megawatt power generation capacity on the Brahmaputra River (known as Sangpo River in China) at Medog near the international border. Let us tell you that the Sangpo River is known as Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and Brahmaputra in Assam. When the main stream of this river enters Bangladesh before joining the Bay of Bengal, it is known as Jamuna.

The issue was raised in the Arunachal Assembly
The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly was discussing the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address. Participating in it, former Union Minister and now MLA Ering said, “We cannot trust our neighbour. We do not know what he will do when. He can dry up Siang by diverting the entire river or cause floods by releasing water.” He further said that the construction of the dam will affect not only India but also Bangladesh. The former Minister of State for Minority Affairs said that the security of the people and the country cannot be compromised. Our aim should be nation first and we need to think about the security of India.

India’s preparation
Chief Minister Pema Khandu had informed in September last year that the Centre has proposed to build a big barrage on the Siang river to secure the area from the potential threat posed by a big dam on the Tsangpo or Brahmaputra river. Khandu had said, “If excessive water is released, we will have to build big structures to protect ourselves from floods. The Centre has also expressed concern about the condition of the Siang river after the completion of the Chinese project. We have to keep the Siang alive. If the course of the river is diverted by China, there will be large-scale land erosion.”
