Ayodhya South East Asian country Laos has issued a postage stamp on Shri Ram Lalla of Ayodhya. This special postage stamp has a photo of Lord Ram. At the same time, Gautam Buddha is seen in the second stamp. This special postage stamp is a symbol of the combined cultural heritage of both the countries. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote on social media about this that a good meeting was held with DPM and FM Saleumxay Kommasith of Laos PDR. Thank you for the warm hospitality. MoUs were exchanged on 10 Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) for Laos under the Mekong Ganga Cooperation and cooperation in sharing successful digital solutions was discussed. Launched a special postage stamp set celebrating our shared cultural heritage of Ramayana and Buddhism.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad welcomed this decision of Laos. VHP media in-charge said on the release of postage stamp on Ram Lalla by the Laos nation, “This is a very happy occasion, which is loyal to its ancestors and Indian culture. Ram Lalla is the backbone of our religion culture, who is embedded in every person.”

Jaishankar is on Laos tour

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday met his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and leaders of South Korea, Singapore, Laos and other countries and discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including education and agricultural technology. Jaishankar is in the capital of the Laos People’s Democratic Republic to attend the meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He met Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on the sidelines of the meeting. “Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar met on the sidelines of the ASEAN event,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a post on ‘X’.

Talks with South Korea too

Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with his South Korean counterpart and held extensive discussions on the special strategic partnership. He also met the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission. He also met his Singaporean counterpart and held fruitful talks. “Had an excellent conversation with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Bala. Thank you Singapore for advancing ASEAN-India relations as country coordinator over the last three years,” Jaishankar said in a post on ‘X’. He also met his counterparts from Indonesia and Malaysia.

Meeting with New Zealand Foreign Minister

Jaishankar held several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Brunei and New Zealand. He held a bilateral meeting with his New Zealand counterpart and the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters. Jaishankar said in a post on ‘X’, “I am always happy to meet New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters. Education, agricultural technology, Pacific Islands and cricket were discussed.” Jaishankar also held a meeting with his Brunei counterpart Dato Haji Eriwan. The two leaders released the ‘logo’ to mark the completion of 40 years of diplomatic relations between India and Brunei.

Meeting being held under ASEAN framework

Jaishankar said, “I am confident that our cordial and friendly relations will grow even stronger.” He also met Laos Home Minister Vilayvo Ng Bouddakham, Industry and Commerce Minister Malaithong Kommasith, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Sanya Prasuth and Special Envoy Alounkio Kittikhoun. Jaishankar said, “Thank you Ambassador Prashant Agarwal for hosting us.” Jaishankar is in the Lao capital to attend the Foreign Ministers’ meetings under the ASEAN framework in the format of ASEAN-India, East Asia Summit (EAS) and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) to further deepen India’s relations with the group. His visit comes at a time when India’s ‘Act East Policy’ is completing a decade.
