Elon Musk has congratulated PM Modi on having more than 100 million followers on social media platform X. Elon Musk is the owner of X and he is also the most followed person on this platform. Musk wrote on X, congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the most followed global leader. PM Modi is at the seventh place in the list of people with the most followers on X. At the same time, Musk is at the top of this list.

Comparing the social media following of various Indian politicians of the country, PM Modi is far ahead in terms of social media followers. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has 26.4 million followers on Instagram, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has 27.5 million, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has 19.9 million followers and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has 7.4 million followers. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has 6.3 million followers, Tejashwi Yadav has 5.2 million followers, while NCP chief Sharad Pawar has 2.9 million followers.

PM Modi is at the forefront of world leaders

Globally, PM Modi is way ahead of world leaders like US President Joe Biden (38.1 million followers), current ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed (11.2 million followers) and Pope Francis (18.5 million followers). Given PM Modi’s popularity on X, world leaders are keen to connect with PM Modi on social media as connecting with him significantly increases their own followers, engagement, views and reposts. We have seen this in Italy and Austria recently as well.

More followers than players

PM Modi is also ahead of the world’s most popular sportspersons in terms of followers on Instagram. PM Modi has more followers than Virat Kohli (64.1 million), Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr. (63.6 million) and American basketball player LeBron James (52.9 million).
