While the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Counseling for Technical Education (AICTE) had already issued a notification warning students against taking admission in Pakistan colleges or any other educational institution in Pakistan, now the National Medical Commission (NMC) ) has also issued a notice warning ‘medical students’ against studying in Pakistan.
NMC notices against taking Pakistan degree are specifically for MBBS and BDS students. The commission, through a notice, has forbidden students to pursue higher education in Pakistan’s medical courses. The notice reads, if one opts for a culinary degree, he/she will not be allowed to appear for FMGE in India. Along with this, the decision to choose a degree from Pakistan can also affect the employment opportunities in India.
UGC, AICTE said – Indian students should not take admission in Pakistan institutions, otherwise they will not get jobs in their country
The official notification said, “Any Indian citizen / Overseas citizen of India who is a resident of Pakistan, having acquired educational qualification (in any discipline) in Pakistan, except candidates who had joined Pakistan degree colleges / institutions before December 2018. Who wants to take admission in MBBS/BDS or equivalent medical course in any medical college will not be eligible on the basis of appearing in FMGE or seeking employment in India.
Let us tell you, this whole matter of warning against the degree of Pakistan has also created controversy. On this, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has already issued a notice and sought clarification. This incident happened after the release of notification by UGC and AICTE.
Over the past few months, especially during the pandemic, Indian students studying abroad have faced many problems. Things got worse with the Russo-Ukraine War as many Indian students had to return to their homeland. In view of such incidents, the authorities have issued such a notification.
