Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday directed senior police officers to probe a sexual harassment allegation against a professor at the National Law Institute University (NLIU) here. An official of the Public Relations Department of Uttar Pradesh said that the Chief Minister has directed Director General of Police (DGP) Sudhir Kumar Saxena and Bhopal Police Commissioner Makrand Deuskar to investigate the allegations against the professor concerned and take strict action. Chouhan also said that a woman police officer should also be included in the investigation.
The Chief Minister said that “misbehavior” on boys and girls would not be tolerated and if necessary the matter would be discussed with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as well. Taking cognizance of reports of an NLIU professor allegedly misbehaving with the girls and subsequent protests by the students, Chouhan summoned senior police officers and directed a probe into the matter.
