After seven years in the Homeopathic Medical Examination (BHMS) result forgery, the police of the University police station has arrested Amresh Kumar, the then assistant of the examination department of BRA Bihar University. After retiring, Amresh Kumar was still the head of the accounts branch of the university. City DSP Ramnath Paswan had issued instructions a week ago to arrest the eight accused of the incident after review. On the same basis, the police station in-charge of the university police station has arrested Amresh Kumar. Amresh, a resident of Gangeya village of Katra police station, also has a residence near the university. Police is also taking action against seven other accused.
In the year 2006, the copies of parts one to four of BHMS examination were checked at Lal Bahadur Shastri Mahavidyalaya located in Allahabad. Marksfiles and copies were sent from Allahabad after copy checking. To prepare the result sheet on this basis, Prof. Manoj Kumar and Prof. Bibi Thakur was made a tabulator. Both found at the initial stage that the seal of the envelope of the marks file which came from Allahabad was broken. In the marks file, it has been increased by tapering in the numbers. Then both the tabulators refused to prepare the result sheet. Both of them informed about the whole situation by sending a letter to the then Vice Chancellor Asheshwar Prasad Yadav. On the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor, the Chancellor ordered an inquiry into the matter. During investigation it was found that the marks of the student have been increased by tampering with the marks file. Thus tempering was found in the mark files of 302 students.

On the report of the inquiry committee, the then registrar Ashok Kumar Srivastava lodged an FIR in the university police station on April 21, 2007. Police investigation revealed that tampering was done in the marks file by recovering crores of rupees to pass the students. Some students had also secretly sent letters to the police saying that Rs 2 lakh had been taken from them. In this way, in the police investigation, the involvement of eight people of the university in the result forgery was found. An order has been issued to arrest him and file a charge sheet. If arrest is not made, the accused will be attached.

SSP Jayantakant said, ‘Eight accused have been found guilty in the BHMS result forgery case. Of these, orders have been issued for the arrest or attachment of the absconding accused and the filing of charge sheet on the accused who have taken bail. There was tampering in the marks file of 302 students in the result forgery. Action will be taken by marking all of them as accused. The details of all the students will be taken from the university.
