Grading system has been implemented in BA, BSC and B.Com in universities and colleges of the state. On Wednesday, Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department Monica S Garg has issued an order in this regard. No grace marks will be given.
This system is based on the guidelines of UGC. These grading systems will be applicable for the first three years. It will be given from 0 to 10 marks. Those who get five marks will be included in the category of average. The pass percentage in main and minor subjects will be only 33. The six co-curricular courses and the minor coursework in the third year are only for qualifying and will have a minimum passing score of 40 per cent. The passing marks in four skill development courses will also be 40 percent. There will be a practical assessment of 60 marks and theory based assessment of 40 marks in skill development. There will be no separate minimum passing marks for practical and theory.
The marks scored out of a maximum of 100 in all types of papers in all subjects will be calculated by adding 25 marks for continuous internal assessment and 75 marks in external examination of the University. To pass in all types of subjects, it will be mandatory to get 25 marks out of 75 in the external examination and it will be mandatory to get 33 percent marks in the internal and external together. There is no minimum pass percentage in the internal assessment of any course. If a student gets zero marks in internal assessment and minimum 33 or 40 percent marks in external examination (co-courses-short research subjects), then he will be considered as pass. In the absence of internal assessment, only zero marks will be given. The student will be compulsorily promoted from odd semester to even semester, irrespective of the result of odd semester. Promotion from even to odd semester will be given subject to certain conditions.
