BJP councilor Koli is also a member of BMC’s Women and Child Welfare Committee and Public Health Committee.
Gita Gyan bestows supreme satisfaction and happiness
He said in the draft proposal that the Bhagavad Gita is an ancient text based on Indian philosophy and in the last composition of the Vedas this text is also referred to as ‘Geetopanishad’. It contains the teachings about life given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. Koli said that it states that the knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita provides supreme satisfaction and happiness to man and also helps him to find the way to salvation. That is why the Gita is also called ‘Moksha Shastra’. He said that it is believed that this book tells human beings about better ways of living.
Philosophers cited in the proposal
Referring to different countries and religions of the world in the resolution, Councilor Koli said that philosophers, scientists and thinkers have always given great respect to Bhagavad Gita. He considered it as a ray of light in the infinite ocean of human life. Indians consider it a divine and holy book. Hence, it has become a custom to take oath by placing hands on it in court as well. The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most important reference texts of history philosophy in the country and one of the most important texts in man. Therefore, Gita should be recited in the schools run by BMC, so that the coming generation can get the right kind of values.
