National Science Day 2022: February 28, 2022 – This day is very special for the country today. This day is celebrated as National Science Day in honor of Sir CV Raman, a well-known scientist not only in India but all over the world. On this date itself in the year 1928, CV Raman announced his discovery of Raman Effect or Raman Effect. For this discovery, he was also awarded the Nobel Prize in the year 1930.

For the first time in the year 1986, 28 February was declared as National Science Day. Since then every year a theme is chosen for this day. The theme of this day for the year 2022 is Integrated Approach in Science and Technology for Sustainable Future.
Why is this day celebrated?
The basic purpose of celebrating this date as National Science Day is to inspire the students of the country for new experiments in the field of science, to attract them towards science, and to make them aware of science and scientific achievements. On this date, every year programs related to scientific activities are organized in various educational institutions of the country and prizes are also given to the students.
Know about CV Raman
CV Raman was a well-known scientist of the country and the world. His full name was Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman. Raman was born on 7 November 1888 in Tamil Nadu. In the year 1907, he completed his MSc from the College of Madras Presidency and won a gold medal there. After this he worked in the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Calcutta till 1933 and did research on various subjects related to physics.
