More than 400 inmates of Tihar Jail have enrolled in vocational education training classes. Prisoners are being trained for nine courses including Air Conditioner, Motor Mechanic, Computer. In this regard, Jail’s DG Sanjay Goyal says that training is being given to the prisoners so that they can get employment for the upbringing of the family.
According to the information, the officials of the Department of Training and Technical Education had contacted the jail administration regarding the plan to provide skill training to the prisoners in Tihar Jail. The jail administration prepared a list of prisoners from jail numbers one to nine to implement the plan. In which 428 prisoners were enlisted for the first batch. Under the scheme, prisoners have been admitted to other vocational courses including computer hardware, cutting and tailoring, plumber, cosmetics, air conditioner, refrigeration, motor mechanic, sewing and cutting. 22 trainers have been appointed for imparting training.
class is taking four hours
Inmates are being given four-hour classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays in a week. After completion of training, certificates will also be issued to all the prisoners by the Department of Training and Technical Education. DG Goyal says that these days 48 teachers from Delhi government schools in Tihar are teaching the prisoners on Monday and Friday along with training in sports.
