UGC will now allow students to pursue two degrees simultaneously. The degree course can be done from one or different universities. The guidelines will come into effect after an announcement on the UGC website today. UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said that the time slot for two degrees in physical mode should not be the same. So that the class time of one program does not clash with the other program. For admission to two degree courses from different institute, both the institutes should be near or at a short distance. Whereas for one physical and one online course, students can register from anywhere.
Admission to the physical mode course will be as per the admission standard of the respective university. It will also be seen whether the student is eligible for admission in the respective course. The Chairman said, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will soon issue detailed guidelines in this regard.
The student will also have the option of one physical and one online degree course. This educational flexibility will be available in all courses Diploma, Undergraduate, Post Graduate. Under the new National Education Policy, the option of multi-entry, multi-exit (going from one course to another or leaving) will also be there in this new guideline.
The UGC chairman informed that students will be allowed to pursue two full-time degree programs simultaneously in physical mode. Guidelines will be issued soon. As per the guidelines, universities will have the option of allowing flexibility to admit students to the course as per their admission rules.
