New Delhi (IANS)| Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, nominated in the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards for “Serious Men”, talks about the importance of awards in his life. For Nawazuddin, getting an award from a credible place like the International Emmy Awards is very important. Talking to IANS about how important awards are to him, Nawazuddin said, “Awards matter the most. It inspires to do good work. If there is such credibility at the award ceremony, coming from the Emmys, He has worked for his credibility, he has promoted good cinema.”
‘Serious Men’ is based on Manu Joseph’s book of the same name. The film directed by Sudhir Mishra is a scathing response to the politics of ambition and caste in the Indian context. Does the International Emmy Awards nomination give Nawazuddin a sense of recognition? He said, “More than recognition it gives confidence in credibility. It makes it stronger that you are not in the rat race. It makes you feel as strong as the work you are doing or choosing – You are on the right track.”
The ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ star had no idea that he would be nominated for his work and concluded by saying that it came as a surprise to him. The International Emmy Awards are a separate event from the main awards – known as the Primetime Emmy Awards. The International Emmy Awards honor excellence in television programming produced outside the US. They have been hosted annually by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences since 1973.
