Eric Garcetti on Friday described the relations between the two countries as ‘qualitative’. He said that the world’s largest and oldest democracy is moving forward because these ‘both love each other’. During a ceremony organized in Kolkata, the US Ambassador said that during his tenure of 16 to 17 months, he has visited 23 states and union territories of India and during this time he has seen the wonderful view of a country which is emerging in the world and experienced an economy which is the strongest in the developing world.

Garcetti described the relationship between India and America as “qualitative” at a meeting on education in Kolkata. He said, “This relationship is not growing at a normal pace. When India and America are together, this relationship grows on a qualitative basis.” Garcetti said that the relationship between India and America is moving forward because “both love each other.” He praised the Indian leadership for the G20 summit organized under the leadership of India last year and said that both the countries are working together on climate change, women empowerment, financial institutional reform, security and principles of peace and non-violence.
