Let us tell you that foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have invested Rs 52,910 crore in Indian equities and debt till July 26. For the last few months, FPIs have been continuously buying in the Indian stock market. The recently released Union Budget 2024-25 focuses on increasing stability in the equity market. According to data from the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), FPIs have invested Rs 33,688 crore in equity and Rs 19,222 crore in debt since the beginning of this month (till July 26).

Retail investors are continuously buying

Since the beginning of this year, FPIs have invested Rs 36,888 crore in equity and Rs 87,846 crore in debt. Analysts say that retail investors are continuously buying Indian shares. At the same time, foreign investors have also returned now, due to which the sentiment in the stock market remains positive. Experts say that the government has simplified the rules of indirect taxes in the budget.

Capital gains tax increased

In the budget, short-term capital gains tax (STCG) has been increased from 15 percent to 20 percent. At the same time, long-term capital gains tax (LTCG) has been increased from 10 percent to 12.5 percent. Pantomath Capital Advisors said that increasing the capital gains tax may affect the market in the short term, but it will not have any effect on the inflow in the long term. Rs 11.11 lakh crore has been allocated for infrastructure in the budget, which will give a big boost to the economy. India is the fastest growing economy in the world. India’s GDP growth rate in the financial year 2023-24 was 8.2 percent.
