Free electricity will not be available, government has stopped the plan, millions of people will be affected

Free Electricity: Rajasthan government is giving shocks to people one after another on the issue of electricity. The government had earlier started the scheme of monthly electricity bills. After this, the free electricity scheme has now been discontinued. Till now, 100 units of free electricity has been given to domestic consumers in Rajasthan, but now this scheme has been discontinued for new people. That means now new people will not be registered in the free electricity scheme. Its benefits will continue to be available only on old meters.

The current government of Rajasthan has started ending the populist schemes of the previous government. The free smartphone scheme started during Ashok Gehlot’s rule is currently suspended. Now new people will not be added to the scheme of giving 100 units of free electricity. In response to different questions asked about both the schemes, the state government has clarified its stand in a written reply given in the assembly. The government has clarified that the free smartphone scheme is suspended since the time of the code of conduct of the assembly elections, a final decision will be taken on it later. It is believed that the government will stop this scheme.

will not get free electricity
In response to the question of BJP MLA Radheshyam Bairwa from Baran-Atru, the Energy Minister said that the benefit of the Chief Minister Free Electricity Scheme (domestic subsidy) of the previous government is being given only to those registered domestic consumers who have registered a domestic connection with a Janadhaar. In this scheme, 98.23 lakh domestic consumers got registered from June 2023 to March 2024. All the consumers who got registered were given the benefit of the scheme.

On the question of providing benefits of the scheme to the deprived consumers, the Energy Minister said that under this scheme, there is a provision to provide benefits of the scheme only on registration of one domestic connection from one Janadhaar. The remaining domestic consumers who did not get themselves registered were either ineligible or were not willing to take the subsidy. The government has no plans to bring the deprived consumers under this scheme.

Smartphones will not be given
In response to a question by Congress MLA Vikas Chaudhary in the Assembly, it was told that the Rajasthan government had distributed free smartphones to 24,56,001 women through Direct Benefit Transfer – DBT till January 2024. This project was suspended from October 9, 2023 as soon as the code of conduct for assembly elections came into force.
