Washington: US Vice President Kamala Harris has launched her presidential campaign with a scathing attack on Republican candidate Donald Trump. She alleged that the former president wants to take the country backwards. Addressing her campaign team in Wilmington, Delaware on Monday, Kamala (59) said that Trump’s controversial Project 2025 “will weaken the middle class and take us back to the failed policies under which billionaires and big companies were given huge tax breaks and working people were made to pay for it.”
Biden drops out of the presidential race
President Joe Biden (81) surprised everyone by suddenly announcing his withdrawal from the presidential race last Sunday. He recommended the name of Kamala Harris of Indian-African origin for the presidential candidacy on behalf of the Democratic Party. The next day, Biden’s campaign team was renamed ‘Harris Campaign’. Kamala told the members of the campaign team that she is retaining the ‘Biden-Harris Campaign Team’.
Kamala targets Trump
Targeting Trump, Kamala Harris said, “Donald Trump wants to take our country back to the era when many Americans did not have full freedom and rights. But we believe in a bright future in which there is a place for all Americans. We believe in a future where every person has the opportunity not only to earn a livelihood but also to move forward.” Kamala said, “We believe in a future where no child has to grow up in poverty, where every person can buy a house, raise a family and earn money, where every person gets paid family leave and affordable child care. We want such a future.”
Kamla spoke about strengthening the middle class
Kamala said, “Together we are struggling to build a nation where every person gets affordable health care, where every employee gets a fair salary, and where every senior citizen can retire with dignity. All these will be the important goals of my presidency, because we know that if our middle class is strong, then America will be strong.” She alleged that this is not the future for which Donald Trump is fighting.
‘Please pay attention to what I say’
Kamala Harris reminded that before becoming the Vice President or being elected to the Senate, she was the Attorney General of California. She also practiced law for a long time. Kamala said, “In those roles, I fought legal battles against all kinds of criminals, including those who abuse women, cheat consumers, break rules for personal gain. So, when I say that I know what kind of person Donald Trump is, take my word for it.”
‘I will keep the record against Trump’
The Vice President said, “During the campaign, I will proudly present my record against Trump. As a young prosecutor when I was in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office in California, I specialized in cases related to sexual abuse. Donald Trump was found guilty by a jury in a sexual abuse case.”
Kamala gets Bill Clinton’s support
Kamala Harris made history in 2021 by becoming the first woman, first black and first South Asian Vice President of America. She has secured the support of former President Bill Clinton for the presidential candidacy. This has increased her chances of winning the support of the required delegates during the party convention. (Language)
