ICC Awards: Neighboring country won the title of Digital Fan Engagement of the Year, 6 countries got Development Award


New Delhi. Six emerging countries in the cricket world, Mexico, Oman, Netherlands, UAE, Nepal and Scotland have become the winners of the ICC Development Award 2023. These six countries have been selected from 21 countries. The ICC’s elite panel selected the award winners. For this, apart from the performance of the previous calendar year, the initiatives of these countries were made the basis.

The ICC on Wednesday announced the winners of the Development Awards 2023. They were selected from the list of regional award winners announced in April, which was selected by a distinguished panel of ICC full member officials, former international cricketers and ICC global partners. The ICC Development Awards were introduced in 2002 to recognise the work done in associate member countries to promote the game globally.

The Mexican Cricket Association was awarded the ICC Development Initiative of the Year award for its pioneering projects which sent a team to participate in the Street Child Cricket World Cup in India and organised cricket sessions for prisoners in Mexico to rehabilitate and transform their lives.

Oman Cricket was awarded the ‘100% Cricket Female Cricket Initiative of the Year’ award for its ‘Cricket4Her programme’ which provides opportunities to women and girls. The Netherlands was awarded the ‘ICC Associate Member Men’s Performance of the Year’ award for their outstanding effort in qualifying for and competing in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) won the ‘Associate Member Women’s Performance of the Year’ award for their outstanding performance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Asia Qualifier in Malaysia.

Nepal Cricket Association won the ‘ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year’ award for its growth in social channels. Cricket Scotland was named the winner of the ‘Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year’ category. (input language)
