It was believed that Hardik, who was the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team during the World Cup, would be given the captaincy of Team India, but the BCCI took a shocking decision and made Suryakumar Yadav the new captain of India in this format.

The Indian team took off for Sri Lanka from Mumbai on Monday. Team India reached Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo about 2 hours later. After which the Indian team reached Pallekele by bus. The first match of the T20 series between the two teams will be played here. Team India has arrived for this series with new head coach Gautam Gambhir. This is also going to be Gambhir’s first series as the coach of the Indian team. In such a situation, coaching a world champion team will not be easy for him either.
