New Delhi. GST Council is going to meet today. The meeting of the GST Council will also be held on 4 September i.e. Thursday and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will give information about the decisions taken in this meeting in the evening. The entire country is eyeing this meeting of GST Council. The reason for this is that on Independence Day, PM Narendra Modi has announced from the ramparts of the Red Fort that the GST rates will be changed and the general public will be given a big relief gift.
Sources have shown that the GST Council is now going to keep only three slabs of tax 5 per cent, 18 per cent and 40 per cent. So far, four slabs of GST tax are 5 percent, 12 per cent, 18 per cent and 28 per cent. According to sources, most of the 12 per cent of things are to be brought in 5 per cent. Apart from this, clothes and shoes worth more than Rs 2500 can be done in the current 12 per cent to 18 per cent tax slab. According to sources, many states have demanded that electric cars ranging from 20 to 39.99 lakhs be brought into 18 percent slab. Also, electric cars of Tesla, BYD and BMW to be imported from abroad should be added to 40 percent tax slab.
Apart from this, alcohol, cigarette, high price TV, AC and fridge Vagaira can also be brought to 40 % GST slab. Whereas, GST Council can provide relief to common people by bringing tax on low -priced fridge, TV, AC to the current 28 to 18 per cent. Apart from this, sources also say that in the meeting of GST Council, it can be decided to remove GST from insurance i.e. insurance. The demand for removal of GST on insurance has been rising for the past several years. If GST is abolished with insurance, it will provide great relief to the common people and especially the elderly. However, tomorrow i.e. on Thursday evening, it will be known that the GST Council has given relief on what things have been given to charge more taxes.
