New Delhi. A police post will be built in front of Jama Masjid in Sambhal, UP. The place for this has been finalized and measurement work has also been done. After the recent violence, the administration has taken this decision as a precautionary measure so that such violence does not recur in the future. Sambhal’s Additional SP Srichandra has confirmed this while talking to a news channel. He said that lime has been poured on the place marked for the construction of a police post and construction work will start there soon.
Since the violence, Sambhal has remained the center of discussion. ASI team along with police and administration is surveying the ancient temples and wells there. Recently, during the excavation of the ancient stepwell, new things are being found every day. Let us tell you that regarding the Jama Masjid of Sambhal, Hindus have claimed that it was formerly the Harihar Dham temple which was demolished by the Mughals and converted into Jama Masjid. A petition was filed in the court regarding this. While hearing the petition, the court ordered a survey of Jama Masjid.
On November 24, when the ASI team reached Jama Masjid to survey, a crowd of local people gathered there. People started opposing the survey. Within no time the crowd became furious and the protest took the form of violence. In this violence, the CO was shot in the leg, the SDM was fractured while many other policemen were injured. Four people also died in this. Police have registered a named FIR against SP MP Ziaur Rahman Burke and the son of the local SP MLA, accusing them of inciting violence.
