Year Ender 2024: The year 2024 was full of extremely painful and shocking events for the country. Some incidents of this year not only became a topic of discussion across the country, but also surprised the government as well as the general public. Kolkata Rape Case: A heart-wrenching incident took place on the night of August 9 at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. A female trainee doctor was brutally murdered after being raped. This incident became a cause of anger among the people across the country. There were statewide demonstrations and demands were made from the government to enact strict laws. This incident raised serious questions on law and order in West Bengal.
Wayanad Landslide: A massive landslide occurred in Wayanad district of Kerala on the night of July 30. In this horrific tragedy, an area of several kilometers was completely destroyed. More than 231 people were confirmed dead in this landslide. It is reported that the death toll is more than 420. After the incident, rescue operations were conducted in many areas. The scene of destruction was heart-wrenching. A loss of approximately Rs 1200 crore was reported in this tragedy.
In Karnataka, girlfriend was cut into 59 pieces and kept in the fridge: The whole country was horrified by the murder of Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. The accused murdered his girlfriend Mahalakshmi, cut her body into 59 pieces and kept them in the fridge. The killer had written in his suicide note that he had committed this brutal crime because he was fed up with Mahalakshmi’s behavior and had murdered her on September 3.
Tirupati Laddu controversy: Controversy broke out over the use of animal fat in the Prasad Laddu of Tirupati temple. The controversy began on September 18, when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu had alleged that fat was being added to the Tirupati prasad. The controversy put the Tirupati temple administration in the dock and sparked a major debate over temple offerings.
Reasi terrorist attack: On June 9, a bus was attacked by terrorists in Pauni area of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The bus was going from Shiv Khori to Katra when the terrorists opened fire. After the attack, the bus fell into a ditch, killing 9 people including a child.
Hathras stampede incident: 123 people were killed in the stampede that broke out after a satsang on July 2 in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. This accident happened when thousands of people had gathered during a religious satsang. This accident happened due to lack of security arrangements from the police and administration, in which a huge stampede broke out and people were crushed to death. After the incident, Bhole Baba alias Narayan Sakar Hari, who was doing satsang, shifted to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.
Hottest year in history: 2024 has been predicted to be the hottest year ever. Climate change has led to record increases in temperatures across the world. India was also not untouched by this, where the scorching heat affected people in the months of July and August.
