Indian Army contingent leaves for Mongolia to participate in ‘Khan Quest’, know what to do there

New Delhi: A contingent of the Indian Army has left for Mongolia. This contingent of the army has gone to participate in ‘Khaan Quest’ and will remain there from 27 July to 9 August. Actually, this is a multinational military exercise in which armed forces from all over the world will participate. They will come together to enhance their capabilities for peacekeeping.

The Defence Ministry issued a statement saying that the Indian Army contingent comprising 40 personnel including a woman officer and two women soldiers has left for Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday. The Indian side is mainly represented by a battalion of the Madras Regiment. It includes soldiers as well as personnel from other military services. The entire exercise will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Khan Quest was last held from June 19 to July 2, 2023

The statement said, Khan Quest last took place in Mongolia from June 19 to July 2, 2023. The ministry said the exercise first began in 2003 as a bilateral event between the US and Mongolian armed forces. Subsequently, the exercise turned into a multinational peacekeeping exercise from 2006 and this year is its 21st edition.

The aim of ‘Khan Quest’ is to prepare the Indian Armed Forces for peacekeeping missions in collaboration with several countries, thereby maintaining readiness for peace support operations under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The countries participating in the ‘Khan Quest’ exercise will have an opportunity to share their best practices in tactics, techniques and procedures for conducting joint operations.
