India’s NSA Ajit Doval is leading the Indian delegation to the fourth annual meeting of the security heads of the member countries of the ‘Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation’ (BIMSTEC) in Myanmar. Hlaing, Chairman of the ‘State Administration Council’, welcomed Doval to his office on Friday.

1643 km long partnership between Myanmar and India

State-run newspaper ‘The Global New Light of Myanmar’ reported that in the meeting, Hliang and Doval shared views on friendly relations and cooperation between India and Myanmar, Myanmar’s political progress, preparations for holding free and fair democratic general elections, and measures for peace and stability in the border region. The paper said Myanmar is trying to maintain peace and stability in the border region with India. The two countries share a 1,643-km-long border that passes through Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. (Language)
