Their systems are showing a blue screen with an error message, commonly known as the “Blue Screen of Death” bug. This problem has affected airports, government offices, media houses, businesses, several stock exchanges and even emergency services. This problem in Microsoft’s servers has caused a lot of trouble to people.

Users on social media are sharing screenshots of their PCs, which have a blue screen with an error message. The message reads, “It appears that Windows did not load correctly. If you want to restart and try again, select ‘Restart my PC’.”

Why is this error coming on Windows?

According to an official Microsoft blog post, blue screen errors occur when serious problems occur that force Windows to shut down or restart immediately. These errors can be caused by either software or hardware problems. However, in this case, Crowdstrike has acknowledged that the problem in Windows is due to one of its updates released on Friday. The company said in a statement on its support page that its engineering team is working to resolve the issue.

What did Crowdstrike say?

The company said, “CrowdStrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to Falcon sensors. Symptoms include hosts experiencing bugcheck/blue screen errors related to Falcon sensors. Our engineering team is actively working to resolve this issue and there is no need to open a support ticket.” Furthermore, according to an update posted on the CrowdStrike sub-Reddit, CrowdStrike’s engineering team has now found a way to revert the changes brought about by the update.

How to Stop Blue Screen Error on Windows?

  • 1. To get rid of the blue screen error, boot your Windows into Safe Mode or Windows Recovery Environment.
  • 2. Go to C:WindowsSystem32driversCrowdStrike directory.
  • 3. Find the file named “C-00000291*.sys” and delete it.
  • 4. Now boot your Windows normally i.e. restart your computer.
