Is your flight from Mumbai airport? Then definitely read this news, many flights have been cancelled

Mumbai. Heavy rains in Mumbai on Sunday led to the cancellation of 36 flights at the airport throughout the day. Sources said that due to this the airport administration had to stop runway operations twice within about an hour, although it was only for a short time.

Sources said the flights cancelled at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were of budget airline IndiGo as well as full-service carriers Air India and Vistara. “Due to continuous heavy rains and low visibility in the city, 18-18 arriving and departing flights had to be cancelled on Sunday,” sources said.

These cancellations include 24 flights of IndiGo, including 12 departing flights, and eight flights of Air India, including four departing flights. Vistara also cancelled four of its flights at Mumbai airport, sources said.

Earlier, a source had said that due to bad weather and low visibility, operations on the runway were first suspended for eight minutes at 12.12 pm and later from 1 pm to 1.15 pm. Sources said at least 15 flights, including Air India, IndiGo and Akasa, were diverted to nearby airports, mainly Ahmedabad, by 4 pm.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, till 4 pm, the city received 82 mm of rain, the eastern suburbs 96 mm and the western suburbs 90 mm. Due to heavy rains, apart from air services, road and rail services were also affected in Mumbai. Many roads were flooded, while the tracks on the Central Railway’s Harbor Line were submerged at some places.
