US Presidential Election: US President Joe Biden addressed the country for the first time after withdrawing from the presidential race. During the address, Biden informed the people about his decision and talked about handing over the torch to the new generation. Apart from this, he also sought support for the current Vice President and new candidate Kamala Harris. Biden has returned to the White House after recovering from Covid infection. Biden said in his address, ‘I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris. She is experienced, determined, capable.

‘Time to pass the torch to the new generation’

Speaking from the Oval Office, Biden said, “I think my record as president, my leadership in the world, my vision for America’s future, all deserve a second term, but nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. This includes personal ambition.” He said the best way to move forward is to “hand over the torch to a new generation.”

‘America is more powerful than any dictator’

The US President said, “I ran for President four years ago because I believe the soul of America is at stake. That remains the case now.” He described America as “the most powerful idea in the history of the world” and said “America is an idea, an idea that is stronger than any army, bigger than any ocean, more powerful than any dictator.”

‘No place for violence’

The US President said, ‘I will continue to oppose hatred and extremism, and will keep making it clear that there is no place for political violence or any kind of violence in America.’ He also promised to work towards ending the war in Gaza and bringing back Americans imprisoned in jails around the world.

Biden made this appeal

Praising American democracy, Joe Biden said, ‘Kings do not rule here. People rule. History is in your hands. Power is in your hands. The power of America is in your hands.’ Referring to the elections to be held in November, he said, ‘Let us work together to save our democracy.

Remembering his presidential tenure

Recalling his presidency, Biden said that America has “come a long way” since he was sworn in in January 2021. “We were hit by the worst pandemic of the century, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War, but we united as Americans. We got through it,” he said. He said America has become stronger and more prosperous with a strong economy and we are rebuilding our entire country. He said he would stand for “everything from the right to vote to the right to choose.”
