The Supreme Court has again heard the case of nameplates on food shops on the Kanwar Yatra route today on Friday. Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, on behalf of Uttar Pradesh, said that UP has filed its reply. The lawyer on behalf of UP has also said that the court has given a unilateral order, with which we do not agree. Let us tell you that this case is being heard by a bench of Justice Rishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatti. Recently, the Supreme Court had put an interim stay on the order of putting nameplates in front of shops.

Which state said what in the court?

In the Supreme Court, Uttarakhand said that it needs two weeks to file its reply. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh said that this did not happen in their state. Only Ujjain Municipality had issued the order but no pressure was applied. Advocate Rohatgi from UP said that the matter should be heard on Monday otherwise it will be meaningless.

The court gave a unilateral order- UP Government

UP government’s lawyer Rohatgi said that the court has given a one-sided order, which we do not agree with. The Uttar Pradesh government said that we should also respect the food choices of Shiva devotees. At the same time, the petitioner’s lawyer said that in the reply, the UP government has accepted that we have discriminated even if it was for a short time.

There is a central law in this matter- UP Government

In the Supreme Court, the Uttarakhand government’s lawyer said that it is wrong to say that there is no law to display the owner’s name. At the same time, the UP government’s lawyer said that there is a central law for what we did. On this, the Supreme Court said that if there is such a law, then it should be implemented in the whole country. Why was this done suddenly this year? Why is it suddenly happening in a particular area?

The lawyer of a petition filed in support of the UP government demanding display of the name said -:

  • When we went inside the hotel, we found the staff to be different.
  • Non-vegetarian food is served.
  • I am concerned about my fundamental rights.
  • If someone wants to protest voluntarily, he should be allowed to do so.
  • This has been stayed by an interim order.

hearing adjourned

The hearing in the Supreme Court on the name plate case in front of shops has been postponed. The interim stay order has been maintained. The Supreme Court said that our order is clear. If someone wants to write his name outside the shop on his own will, then we have not stopped him. Our order was that one cannot be forced to write the name.
