15-20 Indians are still stuck in war-torn Ukraine. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that all kinds of help are being given to the Indians who want to move out of there. The ministry clarified that ‘Operation Ganga’ is still on. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said that this is a state of war, but we will continue the work of evacuating those who want to come out.
Bagchi said, “Till three days ago there were about 50 Indians. We estimate that 15-20 people want to leave that country (Ukraine). There are others who don’t want to come out now. As much help as possible, We are doing as much. 22,500 Indians have been brought back from Ukraine and some people are still there and this is an emerging situation. We are in touch with all the Indians who are there. Indian Embassy is providing all possible help.”
Ukraine crisis will have negative impact on Indian economy
At the same time, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that the economic impact of Russia’s attack on Ukraine on the world can have a negative impact on India’s economy. Whereas its immediate impact on China will be relatively small. “The global economic impact of the war is expected to have a negative impact on India’s economy through various means,” said Gerry Rice, director of the IMF’s communications department.
The White House has said that the US is in touch with Indian leaders and will continue to encourage them to work closely with it against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked how the world’s largest and oldest democracies are working together to bring peace to the region amid the war in Ukraine.
