America, apprehensive of the new era of COVID epidemic, has entrusted the responsibility of leading the strategy to deal with it to Dr. Ashish Jha, born in Madhubani district of Bihar. Dr. Ashish, America’s top public health expert, has been made the COVID-19 response coordinator for President Joe Biden. The White House announced this on Thursday. He will assume this responsibility on April 5.
Dr. Ashish was born in 1970 in Pursauliya village located in Kaluahi district of Madhubani. He has been living in the US since 1983. He graduated in economics from Columbia University in 1992. After this, after receiving training in internal medicine from the University of California, he earned an MD degree from Harvard Medical School. He is currently the dean of Brown University’s School of Public Health.
The news of Dr. Jha getting this big responsibility caused a wave of happiness in his native village Pursauliya. Rural Govind Jha told that Dr. Ashish’s father Parmeshwar Jha was a teacher. His uncle Kameshwar Jha was a doctor in Madhubani. He has passed away. Now no one of his family lives in the village, but the villagers are proud that he was born here.
