What is the government’s argument on CAA?
Last Tuesday, a statement was issued by the Central Government regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, in which it was discussed in detail about the uncertainties prevailing in the Muslim society regarding CAA. The Home Ministry made it clear that no Indian is going to lose his citizenship due to CAA. It was said that Indian Muslims have no need to worry as the Citizenship Amendment Act will not affect their citizenship. They are entitled to equal rights on the lines of Hindu society.
No documents will have to be presented
The Home Ministry said that after this Act, no Indian citizen will be asked to present any document to prove his citizenship. “Indian Muslims need not worry as the CAA makes no provision to affect their citizenship and has nothing to do with the current 18 crore Indian Muslims who have the same rights as their Hindu counterparts.”
