New Delhi. About two dozen people of Malti village of Asthawan police station area of Nalanda had set out for Ganga bath at Umanath in Barh on Sunday, but a heart-wrenching incident took place. People travelling by boat had to face trouble when the boat capsized in the middle of the journey and the passengers fell into the river. Many people were rescued, but four to five people are missing, whose search is going on. There is mourning in the village after this incident.

According to local residents, many people are feared dead but the search for their bodies is on. These people had come to pay tribute to Awadhesh Prasad’s mother after her death. After the rituals were completed, the family and neighbors decided to take a bath in the Ganga at Umanath Ghat. Hearing the news of the boat capsizing, hundreds of villagers rushed towards the flood. Both family members and neighbors had set out on this journey together.

The tragedy has created an uproar in the entire village. Villagers said that the family had reserved a boat to cross the river. The missing people include several members of the same family, including Awadhesh Kumar, his nephew Nitish Kumar, Nitish’s father Piyush Kumar and two women. Awadhesh Kumar, who recently retired from the post of GM in NHAI and was currently working as an investigator in the same department, is one of the missing people. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the village and any news about the missing persons is eagerly awaited so that they can return safely.
