Sarfaraz Khan said- was nervous on debut
father had said the same thing
New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan says that he was very worried when he was not getting a chance to debut in Team India. Sarfaraz used to ask his father when would he get a chance to play for India? Father Naushad Khan always used to tell his son only one thing that when you play domestic cricket, consider that you are playing for Team India. 26 year old Sarfaraz, after his debut in Team India, has now told about this Gurumantra which his father used to give him. Sarfaraz recently made his debut in international cricket through the 5-match home Test series against England. He won a lot of applause by scoring half-centuries in both the innings of the debut test.
Sarfaraz Khan has been scoring runs continuously in domestic cricket for the last few seasons. Despite this, he was not getting a chance in Team India. After this he became very upset. He used to ask the same question to his father every time. And father Naushad Khan also used to give him the same answer. Which Sarfaraz had tied the knot with. Despite scoring 14 centuries and a record 3912 runs in the first class at an average of 69.85, Sarfaraz did not get a place in Team India, so last year the great cricketer Sunil Gavaskar supported his Test selection.
Broke Sachin’s record at the age of 19, made the team champion, no regret of being unsold in IPL
‘My job was to play and score runs’
Sarfaraz Khan said in ‘India Today Conclave’, ‘If I had asked my father when I would get a chance to play for India, he would have told me only one thing. Imagine that you are playing for India in your next home match and score runs like that. So my only job was to score runs wherever I played.
‘I used to hear about the importance of tests since childhood’
Sarfaraz Khan was handed the Test cap by former Indian captain Anil Kumble in the third Test in Rajkot in which he, like Sunil Gavaskar, scored two half-centuries. Sarfaraz said, ‘Since childhood, I used to hear stories about the importance of Test cricket. My father kept telling me the importance of the longer format of the game. It was not that there was no pressure, when I was playing my first series I felt pressure.
