Jaipur. Now the transport department is on alert after seven people were burnt alive in a road accident in Sikar district of Rajasthan. After this horrific accident, the Transport Department has now issued a warning regarding the fitness of commercial vehicles. Now all the commercial vehicles with registered numbers in Rajasthan will be required to have fire extinguishers in their vehicles. Otherwise fitness certificate will not be issued to the vehicle. A fine will also be imposed.
In fact, three days ago, on April 14, a car rammed into a truck moving ahead on the Jaipur-Bikaner Highway near Fatehpur town of Sikar district. After the collision, both those vehicles caught fire. Seven people were burnt alive in this accident. All these people were from Uttar Pradesh. The whole country saw the pictures of this horrific accident. Apart from this, sporadic incidents of fire in vehicles keep coming to light. Now the Transport Department has prepared an action plan to prevent these fire accidents in vehicles.
The fine can range from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000.
According to Jaipur Jhalana RTO Rajesh Kumar Chauhan, a big decision has been taken regarding all the vehicles with commercial registered numbers in Rajasthan. Now all these drivers will be required to keep fire extinguishers in their vehicles. If fire extinguishers are not found in these vehicles during inspection, the fitness certificate will be cancelled. Along with this, a fine ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 will also be imposed on them. This fine will depend on many other parameters including the condition of the vehicle.
Incidents of vehicle fires increase in summer
According to Chauhan, a large number of tourists reach Rajasthan from Delhi. Most of the tourists visit different parts of the state through commercial cars. Now the Transport Department will also keep an eye on all these vehicles. Anyway, now the hot summer season has started. The mercury has started rising slowly. The effect of this heat is now visible on vehicles too. Due to extreme heat, incidents of vehicle fire are also being reported from many places. In such a situation, the Transport Department has started efforts to stop such incidents.
A long period of action is about to begin
It is a good start to say the least, but apart from commercial vehicles, lakhs of private vehicles are also running on the roads. Had the scope of investigation by the Transport Department not only been commercial vehicles but also private vehicles, more vigilance could have been taken. At present, checking of fire extinguishers will start in all commercial vehicles, be it car, truck or bus. A long phase of action is about to begin against vehicles that don’t follow the rules.
