A top official of US President Joe Biden’s administration has said that Pakistan is facing a dire threat of terrorism due to continuous terrorist activities in the areas bordering Afghanistan. Lu said that it is also important for Pakistan to pay attention to economic stability.
Pakistan is stuck
Regarding the recent elections in Pakistan, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu told members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee that the conflict has been going on in Afghanistan for 40 years and Pakistan is caught in it. Lu said the end of the conflict in Afghanistan provides an opportunity for all of us to build relations with Pakistan on our own terms and we are committed to doing so.
To support the people of Pakistan
Donald Lu said, “Now one of our main goals with Pakistan is that we have to support the Pakistani people because at present the people there are facing the terrible threat of terrorism.” Terrorist attacks have increased rapidly in the last three years, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. Attacks are being carried out from Afghan territory.
It is important to pay attention
The top official said, “Recently a major terrorist attack was carried out by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in which seven policemen were killed. “We call on the Afghan Taliban to ensure that its territory is not used as a staging ground for terrorist groups.”
