New Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has now moved the Supreme Court for relief. Arvind Kejriwal had challenged his arrest in the liquor scam case in the Delhi High Court. Delhi High Court, while giving its verdict on Kejriwal’s application on Tuesday, did not give any relief. Now the convener of Aam Aadmi Party and the CM of Delhi are hoping for relief from the Supreme Court.
Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of Delhi High Court has said in her decision that the action taken by ED against Arvind Kejriwal is legal. Justice Sharma of Delhi High Court has given a decision in 106 pages, rejecting Kejriwal’s application. The High Court has said in its decision that it is clear from the statements of witnesses of the liquor scam that Arvind Kejriwal was personally involved in this matter. The court also said the important thing in its decision that Arvind Kejriwal was also involved in the process of taking bribe from South Cartel. The court considered the ED’s evidence as solid and said that Arvind Kejriwal was involved in the conspiracy and also asked for bribe.
Now Arvind Kejriwal has approached the Delhi High Court against this decision of the Delhi High Court. ED had arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in the liquor scam case. Rouse Avenue Court sent him on ED remand twice consecutively. After which the court sent Arvind Kejriwal to Tihar Jail in judicial custody till 15 April. Before Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, who was the Deputy CM in his government, was arrested by ED in the liquor scam. Sisodia was arrested in February 2023. In this case, ED had also arrested Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. Recently, Sanjay Singh got bail from the Supreme Court. ED did not oppose Sanjay Singh’s bail. Now it remains to be seen whether Arvind Kejriwal gets relief from the Supreme Court or not.
