The problems of the Congress party are increasing in the National Herald case. The Adjudicating Authority has upheld the attached properties of AJL by the ED. ED had attached AJL’s property worth about Rs 750 crore in this case. Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have also been questioned in this matter. Last year itself, ED had seized the property of AJL under the PMLA Act. The court (adjudicating authority) has considered this action of ED correct. In the National Herald case, in November 2023, ED had seized assets worth Rs 751.9 crore of Congress-affiliated AJL and Young Indian under money laundering charges.
Court told the income earned from crime
Regarding this, ED had said that among the seized assets, AJL has properties in many places including Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow. In this case, ED had interrogated Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and many others. Now in this case, the PMLA adjudicating authority on Wednesday upheld the order of attachment of assets worth about Rs 752 crore of Congress-linked ‘National Herald’ newspaper and its associated companies in the money laundering case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The authority said in its order that it believes that the movable assets and equity shares attached by the ED are proceeds of crime and relate to the offense of money laundering.
Direct links between Sonia and Rahul Gandhi
It is noteworthy that in November last year, ED had attached these properties by issuing provisional attachment orders against Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and Young Indian (YI) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). ‘National Herald’ is published by AJL and is owned by Young Indian Private Limited. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are the majority shareholders of Young Indian and each hold 38 per cent shares.
