Itanagar. Along with the Lok Sabha, assembly elections are also going to be held in many states. Arunachal Pradesh is also among these states. Voting for the elections for 60 seats of Arunachal Pradesh Assembly is to be held on April 19. Even before this voting, good news has come from here for BJP. The news is that 5 BJP candidates including CM Pema Khandu are going to reach Arunachal Pradesh Assembly after getting elected unopposed. According to official information, 5 BJP candidates including Pema Khandu will be elected unopposed because despite Wednesday being the last date for nomination, no other candidate has filed nomination from their seats.
Scrutiny of nomination papers on these 5 seats of Arunachal Pradesh will be done today. Nominations will be returned by March 30. It is believed that on the evening of 30th itself, the Election Commission will announce the victory of Pema Khandu and 4 other BJP candidates. In such a situation, voting will be held for the remaining 55 assembly seats of Arunachal Pradesh. Here BJP will have to get at least 31 seats to form the government again. In such a situation, if its 5 candidates are elected unopposed, BJP will now need to win only 26 assembly seats. Apart from CM Pema Khandu, Deputy CM Chowna Mein is also going to win his seat unopposed. Pema Khandu had filed nomination from her traditional Mukto seat. Earlier in 2010, he had won from this seat on Congress ticket after the death of his father and former CM Dorji Khandu.
Khandu had also won the Mukto seat in 2014 and 2019. He left Congress and joined BJP. PM Narendra Modi-led BJP had made Khandu the CM. Khandu has done many things for the development of Arunachal during his tenure. This time too, if BJP forms the government, it is considered certain that Khandu will become the CM. Arunachal Pradesh is one of those states in the North-East, where BJP has had its own government. Apart from Arunachal, BJP also has governments in Assam, Manipur and Tripura. Some other states in the North-East have NDA governments.
