Defense Minister and Chairman of the Manifesto Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh, in an exclusive interview with Rahul Joshi, Group Editor-in-Chief of Network18, said that the party’s manifesto is almost ready and will be released in 7-8 days. .
Rajnath Singh said that work on the manifesto is going on. It is about to be completed. We will release it within seven-eight days. He said that the manifesto is very important for us. I believe that whichever political party makes promises to the public in its manifesto, it should fulfill those promises in letter and spirit. Due to the difference between the words and actions of leaders and political parties, people have lost trust in politics and leaders. You must have seen that whatever the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said in its election manifesto before, whether it was in 2014 or 2019, we followed it in letter and spirit and this time too, whatever we will say in our manifesto, Will follow it.
On ‘One Nation, One Election’
According to Rajnath Singh, ‘One Nation, One Election’ will save time and expense. He said that my personal opinion is that there should be one nation, one election. This will reduce expenses, save time, many such things. I think such views have been expressed by many scholars from time to time.
Asked to elaborate on the timeline, will the elections held after 2027-28 get an extension and the elections held before that be held again or will all elections be held in 2029. On this Rajnath Singh said that I would not like to say anything about the deadline, but if you ask me about my personal wish, I would like it to happen as soon as possible. Whenever our preparations are complete, we should start this process of one nation, one election. He said that at this time I will not be able to tell you about what will be in the manifesto and what will not be there, because this is a practice and when the election manifesto is prepared, we do not make the issues in it public. When it is released the country comes to know about it.
What to say about Mathura and Kashi?
When asked whether after Ayodhya, another slogan ‘Abhi toh yeh jhanki hai, Mathura, Kashi baaki hai’ will be carried forward in the next term. On this Rajnath Singh said that we did what was in the election manifesto. When asked whether the Kashi-Mathura issue would be a part of the election manifesto, he said that this matter is under consideration. I think the decision should be awaited.
When Rajnath Singh was asked about how many temples would be built and about Mohan Bhagwat’s statement about how Hindus should see the future after Kashi and Mathura, he said that there is no doubt that India is a secular nation, No one should have any objection to this. But I would not like to say anything about Kashi and Mathura at this time because the matter is pending in the court.
