New Delhi. If you are above 18 years of age then you are eligible to take the third dose of Corona Vaccine i.e. booster dose. From today, 18+ age group people will be able to get a booster dose of corona. The government has named this dose as Precaution Dose. The booster dose will be available at all private vaccination centres. In addition, booster doses for health workers, frontline workers and 60+ age groups will continue along with the ongoing free vaccination program through government immunization centers for the first and second doses. However, people will have to pay for the third dose.
Which vaccine will be the booster dose?
For the booster dose, you will be given the same vaccine as your first and second doses. If you were given Covishield at the time of your first and second doses, you will be given a booster dose of Covishield as well. Except healthcare workers, frontline workers and the elderly, everyone else will have to pay for the COVID-19 precautionary dose. It will be given at private immunization centers. Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will now cost private hospitals Rs 225 each. Private immunization centers can charge a maximum of Rs 150 as service tax in addition to the cost of the third dose of the COVID 19 vaccine. Vaccines will be provided on a large scale in the country by SII and Bharat Biotech.

So far, more than 24 million booster doses have been given to healthcare workers, frontline workers and 60+ age groups in the country. At the same time, about 96% of all 15+ populations have received at least one corona vaccine, while about 83% of the 15+ age group have taken both doses. 45% of people in the age group of 12 to 14 years have also taken the first dose.
