UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday made a big statement about India’s stand on Russian aggression in Ukraine. Boris Johnson said that everyone knows that India and Russia have historically had very different relations. We know this reality but still I will talk to PM Narendra Modi about it.
Boris Johnson is one of those leaders who has been very vocal against the Russian attack on Ukraine. He has also criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin a lot. On the contrary, India’s stance in the war between Ukraine and Russia has always been neutral. India has expressed its neutrality many times in the United Nations General Assembly by not participating in voting against Russia.
Earlier, reaching Gujarat on Thursday morning, Boris Johnson has become the first PM of Britain, who visited Gujarat. He will meet PM Modi in Delhi on Friday. Before making a statement in the media on Thursday, Boris Johnson tried his hand at the Gandhi Charkha after reaching the Sabarmati Ashram. After that, while visiting the bulldozer plant, he also took a bulldozer ride.
Speaking on India’s stand on the two-month-long war between Ukraine and Russia, Boris Johnson said, “India’s stand has been clear earlier. Even though India never condemned Russia’s move, it did happen in Ukraine’s Bucha city. Has definitely given its response to the massacre and has supported an independent investigation.”
Johnson said, “As I think everyone understands, India and Russia have historically had a very different relationship. Perhaps there has been a more historical relationship with Russia than the UK in the last few decades. We need to understand that reality.” But obviously I will talk to Narendra Modi about it (Ukraine and Russia war).”
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is on a two-day visit to India and will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday. “We look forward to completing another free trade agreement with India by the end of the year,” Johnson said.
