A tunnel was discovered on Wednesday. Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu D.K. Bura told a press conference here on Thursday that the detection of the tunnel was a great success and it proved the alertness of the soldiers.
“We will lodge a strong protest with Pakistan on this issue,” he said.
He said that since 2012, BSF has detected 11 tunnels along the International Border in Jammu.
He said there is speculation that the tunnel was used by terrorists to infiltrate into India to carry out the attack in Sunjwan ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s visit to Jammu in April.
“Efforts are being made to link this tunnel with the Sunjwan attack, but it is just a speculation and no evidence has come to the fore so far,” he said.
He said that no marks were found on the sand around the tunnel in Samba.
Earlier in the day, the BSF said that its troops foiled the plans of Pakistan-based terrorists to disrupt the upcoming Amarnath Yatra after locating the tunnel.
