Delhi/Bengaluru. Giving a boost to the health and medical education sector of Karnataka, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has given green signal to the establishment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Karnataka.
In New Delhi on Wednesday, Karnataka Health Minister K. This assurance was given to Sudhakar during a meeting with the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Sudhakar had earlier requested the central government to start AIIMS in Karnataka so that public healthcare and medical education infrastructure can be increased in the state.
Minister Sudhakar said, “I thank my dear Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya ji for assuring me AIIMS for Karnataka. This will greatly benefit the state and further increase the health and medical education of the state.” Will be.”
Dr. K Sudhakar also announced that the DPR for a new National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) Poly Trauma Center and PG Institute has been submitted to the Standing Finance Committee (SFC). Once approved, the new institute will be built at Kyalasanahalli near Henoor Main Road in Bengaluru.
Initially, the Karnataka government submitted a proposal to the SFC for the construction of a medical college in 2021. However, SFC had asked the government to focus on NIMHANS expertise in PG training. The new 538-bed AIIMS will be ready in three years at a cost of Rs 489 crore.
In his letter to the Union Health Minister, Sudhakar had also contemplated opening a separate state-level university for Nursing and Allied Health Sciences to ensure quality and professionalism.
He also proposed PPP model for administration of hospitals, specialized courses and training of in-service doctors in hospital management.
Other suggestions include giving priority to domicile students in deemed universities and providing assistance to the Government of India to set up medical colleges in all districts, irrespective of whether there is a private medical college or not.
