Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, who became members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the first time, were sworn in as Pro-tem Speaker Ramapati Shastri on Monday. During this, slogans of Jai Shri Ram resonated in the house. After that both of them shook hands with each other.
For the first time after the elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav were face to face. First of all, after taking oath, Chief Minister Yogi was sitting at his place in the assembly that according to the tradition, the opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav was called for the second oath taking ceremony. As Akhilesh Yadav got up from his place while going towards the seat, as soon as he reached in front of Chief Minister Yogi, both the leaders bowed to each other. On this occasion Akhilesh Yadav stopped for a moment, Chief Minister Yogi also stood in his place, both the leaders bowed to each other and then Akhilesh Yadav moved towards the seat.
The newly elected Pro tem Speaker Ramapati Shastri is administered the oath of office by the Governor to the newly elected MLAs of the 18th Legislative Assembly. First of all, Chief Minister Yogi has taken oath. After him, the leader of the opposition party Akhilesh Yadav took oath. After this, one by one Satish Mahana, Surya Pratap Shahi and other ministers and newly elected MLAs were sworn in.
Speaking to the media after reaching Vidhan Bhavan, Yogi Adityanath said, “The swearing-in program of newly elected members in the 18th Assembly is starting today. The Legislative Assembly of the country’s largest state, Uttar Pradesh, is all set to welcome its newly elected members. According to the constitution, by taking oath today, the members will also take a pledge to carry forward the overall development of Uttar Pradesh.I hope that all the members will follow the decorum, tradition of the house and carry forward the proceedings of the house in a peaceful manner and in the coming times. Will work to take forward the overall development of Uttar Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister congratulated all the newly elected members and said that he welcomes and felicitates them on this occasion.
According to Principal Secretary Vidhan Sabha Pradeep Dubey, the MLAs who won the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022 will be sworn in on March 28 and 29. Along with Pro-tem Speaker Ramapati Shastri, senior MLAs Suresh Kumar Khanna, Jai Pratap Singh, Mata Prasad Pandey and Rampal Verma will administer the oath of office and secrecy to them at the Vidhan Bhawan.
