Beijing: China has again ignited the spark of Tibet. Besides, Tibet’s demand for autonomy has also been rejected. China on Friday said it would only talk to representatives of the Dalai Lama and not officials of the Tibetan government-in-exile in India. China also refused to negotiate on the long-standing demand for autonomy of Tibet’s supreme Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama. Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin was reacting to reports of backdoor talks between Tibet’s government-in-exile and China’s government. He said China considers Tibet’s government-in-exile, run from Dharamshala, a ‘separatist’ group.
“The so-called Shijang government-in-exile is a purely separatist political group,” Wang said at a media briefing here. This is completely against the Chinese constitution and laws. It is illegal. “No country has recognized it.” Penpa Tsering, the political head of Tibet’s government-in-exile, or Sikyong, told reporters in Dharamsala, India on Thursday: “We have held backdoor talks since last year. But we do not expect to get anything immediately from this. This may go on for a long time.” Describing the talks as ”very informal”, the head of the Central Tibet Administration (CTA) said, ”I have my own interlocutor who talks to people in Beijing. There are other elements trying to contact us.
China told why talks have to be done only with Dalai Lama group
According to Wang, there are two basic principles for the Chinese government’s contact with the Dalai Lama’s group. Wang said, “First of all, we will hold talks only with representatives of the 14th Dalai Lama, rather than with the so-called representatives of the so-called government-in-exile or the so-called administrative center.” He said that secondly, the topic of talks will be related to arrangements only. , and not the so-called autonomy of Tibet, which is the main demand of the 88-year-old Dalai Lama. “They should do some introspection and distance themselves from all activities that harm the stability of Xinjiang,” Wang said. They must get back on the right track so that we can take the next step. (Language)
