Jagdalpur. The three-day Chitrakot Festival began on the banks of the world famous Chitrakot Falls on Tuesday. This festival is organized every year on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival. Addressing the function on the occasion of the inauguration of the festival, the guests described the festival as the meeting place of Bastaria culture. Chairman of Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board and Narayanpur MLA Chandan Kashyap said that Chitrakot Festival is the meeting place of many tribal cultures of Bastar.
Here in the fair held on the occasion of Mahashivratri festival, where there is an opportunity to meet one’s acquaintances and relatives, there is also an opportunity to enjoy the local delicious cuisine here. Chitrakot MLA Rajman Benzam, the chief guest of the program, said that this is a golden opportunity to bring the tribal culture of Bastar to the world stage. The folk culture of Bastar is easy and simple as well as very attractive. Which needs to be introduced to the whole world. A commendable effort is being made by the Chhattisgarh government in this direction.
Describing the place of Chitrakot in the tourism map as unique, Parliamentary Secretary and Jagdalpur MLA Rekhchand Jain said that its fame is increasing due to the organization of Chitrakot festival. He told the very important place of the fair Mandai in the Bastariya folk tradition. He said that earlier a small fair used to be held here but now it has taken the form of a festival. Where along with the different tribes of Bastar, there is also a vision of different folk culture of the state. Sports talents living in rural areas are also being encouraged to come forward through sports competitions organized on the occasion of Chitrakot Festival. He said that through the development exhibition organized here, information about the efforts being made by the Chhattisgarh government for the prosperity of the people of the region is also available.
People’s representatives enjoyed the matches
In the festival, the guests enjoyed matches in sports competitions. It is to be known that competitions of Kabaddi and Volleyball have been organized in the festival. A fashion show based on Bastaria tribal clothing was also the center of attraction in the festival. 28 participants of Darbha block enthralled the audience by walking the ramp with the costumes and ornaments worn by Muria Madiya Dhurwa and Halba tribes, which are prominently found in Bastar.
Folk dance and Jasgeet enthralled
On the first day of the festival, Mandai dance by the folk dancers of Sukma, Gaur dance by the folk dancers of Kavadgaon in Dantewada district and Anjar in Bastar district, Gedi dance by the folk dancers of Lamker and Odia program by the folk dancers of Bakavand. Along with this Anandita Tiwari, Bhumika Saha presented Kathak dance. The performance of devotional songs by Jasgeet singer Jasmeet Kaur and cultural programs presented by Ras Parab Sanstha also enthralled the audience. He got a lot of appreciation from the audience.
On this occasion, Janpad Panchayat President Mahesh Baghel, Collector Rajat Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Meena, District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rohit Vyas, Additional Collector Arvind Ekka along with public representatives and a large number of villagers were present.
