If seen since the beginning of this year, from April to June, there have been incidents of communal violence in Congress-ruled Rajasthan every month. The period of violence that started from Karauli reached Udaipur via Jodhpur during this period. There are assembly elections in the state next year. Earlier, the government of CM Ashok Gehlot is troubled by the incidents of three major communal violence. The opposition continues to surround the government even after the video of the police trying to save Khadim Salman Chishti of Ajmer Dargah, who said that Nupur Sharma beheaded from above, went viral. In such a situation, the Ashok Gehlot government is taking a lot of strictness today on the occasion of Bakrid. A large number of security forces have been deployed at sensitive places.
Talking about the communal violence that took place in Rajasthan this year, first of all, people of a community pelted stones at a bike rally taken out on April 2 on the occasion of Hindu New Year in Karauli town. Then more than 35 shops, houses and vehicles were set on fire. More than 40 people, including policemen, were injured in the violence. Curfew had to be imposed for 15 days. On May 2, just a month after this incident, violence broke out in Jodhpur over the issue of removal of saffron flags and installation of Islamic flags at Jalori Gate on the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti. The next day, on the occasion of Eid, the loudspeakers installed for Namaz were removed by the crowd. After this there was a lot of violence. It was time to impose curfew in 10 police station areas.
The latest incident happened on June 28. Taylor Kanhaiyalal was murdered by two Muslim men with sharp weapons in Dhanmandi area of Udaipur. Both had come to Kanhaiyalal’s shop on the pretext of giving the measurement of clothes. Companion Ishwar Singh was also seriously injured while trying to save Kanhaiyalal. The special thing is that since the incident of Karauli, CM Ashok Gehlot kept saying that the government will strictly stop communal violence in any situation, but the incidents from Jodhpur to Udaipur have pointed towards the serious situation.
