Puri: Uma Ballav Rath, Congress candidate from Puri assembly seat of Odisha, was attacked by unknown miscreants on Sunday. He was attacked when he was campaigning for the elections. Attack took place during election campaign
Former MLA and Congress candidate from Puri Assembly seat Uma Ballav Rath informed about the incident while talking to journalists. He told the journalists, “When I was campaigning near the bus stand, suddenly some unknown miscreants attacked me.” It is suspected that Uma Ballav Rath was made the Congress candidate. Has been attacked. Let us tell you that the Congress party had initially made Sujit Mahapatra its candidate for this seat, but later he was dropped and Uma Ballav Rath was nominated.
Lok Sabha candidate had returned the ticket
Earlier, Congress had suffered a setback in the Lok Sabha elections also. A few days ago, Congress candidate Sucharita Mohanty had refused to contest the elections from Puri Lok Sabha seat of Odisha. However, after this, Congress hastily made Jai Narayan Patnaik its candidate. Sucharita Mohanty had returned the ticket to Congress saying that she did not have the money to contest the elections. However, while issuing an official statement, Congress had said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Jai Narayan Patnaik (in place of Sucharita Mohanty) as the party candidate from Puri parliamentary constituency for the Lok Sabha elections.
