New Delhi. So far, 15 people have been arrested by the police in connection with stone pelting and violence on the procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Jahangirpuri area of the national capital. Among those arrested are Aslam alias Khodu and Ansar and his accomplices. The weapon has been recovered from Aslam alias Khodu, from which he has been accused of shooting a policeman. At the same time, the FIR of the police about Ansar is saying that he started the violence along with his associates. According to the FIR of Delhi Police, the procession reached Jama Masjid in Jahangirpuri at around 6 pm on Saturday.
Police say that a person named Ansar reached the spot along with four or five of his associates and argued with the people involved in the procession. After the argument, the fight between the two sides escalated and stone pelting started. According to the police, the situation was brought under control after persuading both the sides, but later stone pelting and religious slogans started and firing also took place.
Sub Inspector Medalal was injured in the firing. According to Delhi Police, about 50 rounds of tear gas shells had to be fired to control the violence. In its FIR, the police have termed the entire incident as a communal riot.

In its FIR, the police have also told that the procession was going on in a peaceful manner earlier. After reaching C block Jahangirpuri, there was a ruckus. The station in-charge himself has also lodged an FIR regarding his own injuries in the violence. The investigation of this matter has now been given to the Special Cell.
