new Delhi. On Wednesday, there was a tussle between the Delhi government and the BJP over the film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Regarding making the film tax free for BJP, the Delhi government said go to the center for exemption of CGST. BJP MLAs raised slogans in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday in the wake of Lt Governor Anil Baijal’s speech and demanded tax-free film ‘The Kashmir Files’ by disrupting the House. Meanwhile, Delhi government’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia, who was present in the house, took a dig at the BJP and said that if the film is to be made tax free, then why are the states fighting for GST (Goods and Services Tax). Get CGST (Central Goods and Services Tax) waived by talking to the central government.
Sisodia said, it (BJP) is saying that the state loan waiver and the central government will earn money on that film, what is this nonsense? During this, the Delhi Assembly Speaker said that this has never happened in the last several years.
After this the BJP MLAs calmed down and the Lt Governor’s address started. In his address, the LG said that Delhi’s GDP has grown by 50 per cent since 2016-17. He said that Delhi has the cheapest electricity rates in the country and in 2020-21, 91.4 per cent households availed the electricity subsidy.
The film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is based on Kashmiri Pandits.
